The whole Gospel

Blessings,

Most of us don’t like being told what to do. We definitely don’t appreciate being judged, especially wrongly. And just like receiving flyers in the mail we didn’t ask for, we don’t like getting information we perceive to be useless, dated, or superficial. Well hopefully you can prepare yourself enough for me to finish this message.

The greatest gift a messenger of God can give to someone is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. When most people think of the gospel they just want the good news part. They don’t mind John 3:16, just don’t go further into addressing the sin part. If we weren’t sinners and sinful still, there would be no need for John 3:16. What Jesus did on the cross was for everyone. But because He died for us, doesn’t mean that he is going to tolerate our sinful nature. The gospel is far more than just John 3:16. It is the entire Holy Bible. Jesus will stand by the whole of it. Knowing that God is not the author of confusion, and that He desires for all of us to repent, I hope to share some of His light.

If you are angry, or bitter about the word of God that says something about your life, and yes it is your decision to make. However just like you have a job to do; like people feel a call on their life, the preacher has a job to do. The word of God must be preached in its fullness, because Jesus Christ fully died! Mankind will not know unless the word of God goes forth. Consider these scriptures…How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” Romans 10:14-15

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Mark 16:15-16

The word gospel there means (good news/good message). The word preach means to be a public crier of God’s divine truth. Now that we know that, let’s go a little further. The word of God is pure milk, and should not be diluted. However, God realizes that we all have to take baby steps at times. It’s the reason why He calls different people, and gifts them differently. That diversity allows the gospel to be shared in different ways. However, in sharing the gospel in different ways we should not water down the gospel to suit the needs of the hearer. The preacher should have a compassionate urgency, a confident tone, and a truthful response. Anything short of that is to undermine what Jesus did on the cross. Some of us need our pills crushed before we can take them, and some of us can take them whole. Whether you take the medication whole or crushed doesn’t matter. What matters is that you get the medicine that will save your life. The preacher has been equipped to give you the prescription written by God. It is completely for your benefit, and will definitely save your life.

Some want to share the love of Jesus Christ without the truth of the word of God. The love of Jesus is the gospel, and He calls on all of us to repent, because He loves us. When the news of Jesus is shared and the word of God is not, people get hurt. When people get hurt, they get bitter. When they get bitter, they suffer. As they suffer, the church suffers and society as a whole suffers. When we hear the good news of the gospel with an open heart, and receive Jesus as Lord of our life, He expects us to live a Christ like life. A godly life that will honor Him.

He expects us to begin the process of following and trusting Him as Lord. Here’s an example found in John 8. A woman caught in adultery was brought to Jesus while He was teaching. The mob that brought her, wanted to stone her to death, and sarcastically, wanted to know what Jesus had to say on the matter. Jesus answered them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her”. In other words, who do you think you are. You are no better than her. If any one of you throws that stone he better be perfect, and since I know that I’m the only one perfect sitting here, it’s definitely not any of you. They began to walk away one by one. Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She said, no one Lord” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.” Here is the point; Jesus offered her grace. He knew according to the law she should have been stoned. As for us all, self-included, because we have all fallen short and are filthy rags before a Holy God. We have all been extended grace. Now, three things here need a closer look.

 1.       He extended her grace. A gift she did not deserve and will never be able to repay.

2.       She called Him Lord, meaning whatever you say Jesus after saving my life is what I’m going to obey.

3.       Jesus said from this point forward don’t sin anymore. He wanted her to know that she was better than that, and that He desired more for her. Because the next time you get caught, you may die.

In John 5:1-14 you will find a similar story. These stories are for all of us. Jesus desires a better a life for us. He wants us to know that he prefers mercy over judgement, and that His grace is a free gift. A gift that saves us from being eternally condemned, that is good news. After the good news Jesus followed with an honest recommendation (exhortation). He didn’t sugar coat anything. He didn’t water it down. He said stop today. Now because He said stop, didn’t mean that He didn’t love her. By saying stop He was saying because I do love you. We live in a world where people smile in your face, and stab you in the back. A place where deception is a duty, and the truth is false information. Where the desires of the world trumps justice, truth and true love. We need the good news of the gospel. We need the message of love. But when the message of love is given in part truths, people become wholly confused.

Can you imagine someone only getting half of their dialysis treatment? A surgeon only doing half of the surgery? The messengers of God, especially the pastors, are commanded to fully dispense the gospel of truth (2 Timothy 4:2). The type of sin, didn’t matter. What matters after grace is revealed is truth, and that truth is to stop sinning, to repent, today. Now after the word of God has been rightly divided and fully deployed; It is the option of the individual to choose for themselves. The right to live a life they deem righteous, but as I know for certain, tomorrow is not promised to any one of us.

True messengers of God, grieve as God grieves, and he grieves for every soul. For the earth is the Lord’s and all it contains. The world and those who dwell in it. (Psalm 24:1)

Messengers of God shouldn’t concern themselves with losing members. They shouldn’t cater to the classes or be molded by the masses. They shouldn’t have to worry about being hated. They shouldn’t have the burden of loneliness, or be mocked by the very people they are trying to save, but that is their cross. In bearing that cross they must preach the gospel of love entirely.

As a messenger of God, I am imploring you today, to embrace the truth of the word of God. To fully accept the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him (Psalm 34:8)

The gospel is plated for everyone, but it will only be eaten and digested by a few. The question is will you be one of those few?

Please pray for me and all those like me.

Grace and Peace be upon you

In His will
